WARWICK — Another active member of the Warwick Valley Seniors Club just joined a rapidly growing exclusive group of people in that organization.

On Wednesday, Nov. 15, the club members held a one-day early 90th birthday celebration for Lorraine Dubin, who was born in Jamaica, Queens, on Nov. 16, 1927.

Dubin had a long career as secretary for the Long Island Press and she and her husband Dennis also owned a delicatessen.

Dubin has two daughters and five grandchildren and, after her husband passed away in 1998, her daughters convinced her to move to Warwick.

Around that time she was diagnosed with kidney cancer. But Dubin fought a good fight and today she can say that she is a four-stage cancer survivor.

"There are miracles," she said. "Nothing is impossible for God's children."

And Dubin, who, during her years in Warwick, served as a volunteer for the Ecumenical Food Pantry and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, still manages to go bowling and enjoy dancing.

The celebration, serving cakes and refreshments and everyone singing, "Happy Birthday," took place at the spacious and modern facility that is the Warwick Senior Center, adjacent to the Town Hall on Kings Highway, which first opened in June 2005.

Marie Sisti, president of the club, suggests joining and becoming an active member of her organization may have something to do with good health and longevity.

The only requirement for membership in the Warwick Valley Seniors Club is that you must be age 60 or over.

The advantage of membership in the Warwick Valley Seniors Club also includes taking trips together and enjoying entertainment and informative guest speakers.

Anyone interested in joining or wanting additional information should call Marie Sisti at 986-9113.
