— Glenmere Brewing Co. in Florida was awarded the silver medal for its Black Meadow Bog in the Porter, Stout and Brown Ale beer category during the Taste NY Governor’s Cup Craft Beer Competition earlier this month.

That makes one silver medal win to add to the two gold medal wins Glenmere earned earlier this year..

“With the many breweries and exceptional beers produced in New York, we take this win and all of our wins and mentions with great honor. Fred and I couldn’t do this without the dedicated brewery team we have at Glenmere and our loyal craft beer fans,” said brewer and owner Mike Sandor of his partner and fellow-brewer Fredrick Mehler, their staff, and customers.

The Taste NY Governor’s Cup judging took place in Rochester, N.Y., on July 29. The panel of judges including brewers, cicerones (beer sommeliers), beer writers and others. This state competition was open to any craft brewer in New York State and saw more than 700 beer entries by brewers who were celebrating excellence in craft beer.

“We make every effort to produce quality beer that speaks to the passion of craft beer drinkers as well as our own desire to brew unique small batches with locally grown ingredients, including the brewing water from Glenmere Lake right here in Florida,” Mehler said. “Mike and I are so thankful that the expert judges recognize our hard work= with a medal!”

Glenmere Brewing Co. won two gold medals at the 2017 Best of Craft Beer Awards in Bend, Oregon; their Pennings Brown Ale took gold in the American Style Brown Ale category and their Farmhouse Ale took gold in the Specialty Saison category. Glenmere also earned a place in the finals of The Gilded Growler brewery tournament at Pennings Farm Market in the spring of 2017.
