MIDDLETOWN — Ramapo Catskill Library System held its annual Battle of the Books on Sunday, Sept. 10, at Orange Hall in Middletown.

Teens in grades 6 through 12 competed from 16 public libraries throughout the library system from Orange, Sullivan and Rockland counties to answer trivia questions based on eight books representing a variety of genres and interests.

Albert Wisner Public Library in Warwick placed second out of the `6 teams, led by Warwick co-captains Lizzie Lepre and Maya Bialas.

The final match was between Warwick and returning champions Daniel Pierce Library of Grahamsville, who won first place for the fourth year in a row.

Rounding out third place this year is Nanuet Public Library.

Titles for the upcoming 2018 season will be announced at the Teen Advisory Board meeting on Dec. 16.

The Battle of the Books has been sponsored by AWPL Foundation members Glenn P. and Susan D. Dickes since its inception, as well as a grant from Stewart's Holiday Match.
