“Today was a great day of celebration for Orange County’s seniors, who mean so much to our community,” said Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus who, with AnnMarie Maglione, director of the county’s Office for the Aging, hosted the county’s 19th annual Senior Forum at SUNY Orange’s Middletown campus on Friday.

In keeping with that theme, organizers not only spoke to seniors, they listened to them.

The forum theme this year was “Seniors don’t retire, they inspire.”

Activities at the Senior Forum included Maglione’ holding a public hearing during which she provided a short slide presentation, featuring Office for the Aging events, programs, and activities from the previous year and discussed goals for 2018. The presentation was followed by a Q&A session and opportunity for public input.

Following that program were workshops on topics such as: The Pharmacy in Your Kitchen, Flower Arranging, Basic Information Technology, The Groove dance class, Legal Services of the Hudson Valley, How to Get the Most out of Medicare, Be your Own Handyman and Tips and Tools for Self-Independence.

Orange County Sheriff Carl E. DuBois and District Attorney David Hoovler’s office, along with the with the County’s Consumer Affairs Office. led a “Fraud, Theft, Safety and Scams” class.

For more information or questions about any issues on aging or services available to seniors, contact the Orange County Office on Aging at 18 Seward Ave. #200, Middletown, or call 845-615-3700.
