The Jewish Federation honors 19 volunteers of the year

NEWBURGH — The Jewish Federation of Greater Orange County held its 41st annual meeting on Sunday, June 11, at Kol Yisrael in Newburgh.

The following exceptional community volunteers, selected by Orange County synagogues and Jewish organizations, were recognized for their efforts:

• Congregation Agudas Israel: Steve Licker

• Congregation Beth Hillel: Joseph Herzog

• Congregation B'nai Torah: Helaine Lasko

• Congregation Eitz Chaim: Sharon Jennings

• Congregation Eitz Chaim Sisterhood: Gail Sullivan

• Jewish Family Service: Vincent Copello

• Jewish Federation: Lorraine Wernow

• Monroe Hadassah: Yolande Tovi

• Monroe Temple: Tammy Sabbat

• Monroe Temple Sisterhood: Lisa Sternberg

• Monroe Temple Men's Club: Adam Herrman

• Newburgh JCC: Ian Rieger

• Temple Beth Jacob: George Levy

• Temple Beth Jacob Sisterhood: Deborah Freedman

• Temple Beth Shalom: Wendy Cedar

• Temple Beth Shalom Sisterhood: Mindy Hazzard

• Temple Sinai: Josephine and Ed Bloomfield

“We’re blessed to have so many people who are willing to give of themselves within our many Orange County communities," said Suzanne Leon, executive director of the Jewish Federation. "We thank each and every one of them for their outstanding contributions towards making a real difference in the lives of those in need.”
